Something of an odd concept and question... would it be possible to setup an Ubuntu server to act as a header cache for a network. Not store any actual articles but just the headers - clients trying to get the actual articles would fail.
The server would download headers from the news server and then clients could connect to the Ubuntu server as if it were a news host and retrieve the headers from there, saving bandwidth for groups that multiple different clients visit.
