hi! I'm Melvin, running Ubuntu 7.10. i installed gshutdown via synaptic, but it does not serve it's purpose! it just restarts gdm and displays logon screen and does not shutdown. Plz tell me what 2 do.

Hi there,
from its name, I figure the application serves its purpose; to shut down the Gnome desktop manager, not the computer... If you want to shut down the computer, click on the green icon in your panel, and choose Shutdown.
