I got used to PasswordMaker for a long time, but now I can not add it in firefox (error message shows "can't install because wrong hash file"). It's been a whole day and I can't fix this problem. So I am trying to find a replacement.

I want a generator without too much inputs, better can auto populate fields, can import/export, simple and convenient and reliable. Any suggestion?

KeePassX is a standalone password manager for linux which is a port of KeePass for windows. It's in the repos.

Unfortunately it doesn't fill the forms in a webpage for you. You can double click the password field to copy the password an then paste on the form. Other than this I don't have any problems with it. It is simple, convenient and reliable.

I think it's much better to use a standalone pwd application rather than a browser extension. You can keep real life pwds in it. It survives even if your browser crashes etc.

I typically use this one:
http://www.pctools.com/guides/password/

Its nice since it is online so I can get to it from anywhere even if I dont have my computer with me. Also if you are super paranoid you can use the ssl encrypted version.

If you just want to generate some passwords the most fun one is gpw - generate pronounceable passwords.

vivaldi:~$ gpw 12 15
pabbyteduckshoa
etottlestakshon
urpiounitepoodc
quismstedareurr
flownissalthsta
rachemotictoret
toussiotchoples

Thanks, guys! I finally fixed the firefox problem and got back PasswordMaker, life is just so easy when it auto fill in all the fields. If any trouble again in the future, I will try KeePassX.
