Hey everyone,

This is my first time here using ubuntu so when you guys respond, could you "dumb it down" a bit. My problem is that I downloaded the "PC (Intel x86) alternate install CD" from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/xubuntu/releases/7.10/release/
Then I used MagicISO to extract the files and put them onto a CD.

My goal here is to install Xubuntu for my old Toshiba laptop, a Tecra 8000. I already have Damn Small Linux (dsl) running off of it and I set the boot priority to "CD-ROM". However, when I put the CD into the drive, it would not boot. Can you guys shed some light onto this?

Thanks a bunch :)

Hi.

You should not extract the file. What you need to do is run cd burning software and look for an option like "burn cd image" and then point the application to your iso.
