I'm new in using ubuntu and just installed Antivir for security. I managed to get the console scanner running but having problems with running the GUI. An error always pops up.
Exception in thread "LoaderThread" java.lang.NullPointerException
at de.antivir.framework.LoaderThread.run() (Unknown Source)
at .GC_start_routine (/usr/lib/libgcj.so.6.0.0)
at .__clone (/lib/tls/i686/cmov/libc-2.3.5.so)
Can anyone help me please? :confused: I've used Antivir in my windows xp and I don't want to switch to other antivirus programs.

Not to discourage security practices, but what are you trying to protect against? There aren't many viruses for Linux, and Microsoft viruses won't spread on it.
A virus checker does make a lot of sense if you're recieving and sending out MS-Word files, or possibly if you have Wine setup.

what do you think of Anti-vir in Linux? I was trying to get it going but the extent of my install know-how is gui apt-get managers (yes I'm a n00b). So did you have to install from source, or is there an easier way.
And did that new GUI work out...
