Hello,

I am not sure if I can post such links here but you could use service like rsync.net (http://rsync.net/) or just get xen based vps from reliable provider...

Just hold on for Mozy! I wrote to them today asking if they would consider making a Linux client. Here is their reply:

Hi there,

Yes, we do plan to have a Linux client to release in the future, and our developers are currently working to put that together. Unfortunately as of yet I don't have an exact ETA, but we will definitely make it public notice the minute the BETA version becomes available to the public.

Thank You!

I am RAPIDLY running out of reasons to stick with WinXP!

I spoke with the Mozy folks again. They said the Linux client would be ready between mid and late 2009. That's a long wait if you need backups now. :(

what I did is put a small box together, install debian server on it, installed openssh-server, create a copy with rsync on the lan, then I set up my parents network and attached it there...
Now I make backups on there with rsync ;)

i would recomend rsync.net also, its simple its completely linux compatible

however if you do have a spare computer it would be a good idea to use the idea stated by "hyper_ch" this is what i do for all my data or of course you can buy and external hard disk however you go about it i dont think you need to look further than rsync its built into ubuntu and it works perfectly

Dropbox just released a linux client. Seems to work good, but probably isn't a commercial-level backup utility

Here's a good alternative to anyone needing offsite backup using Linux, Mac, or Windows. It's cheaper than Mozy at only 2.99 a month for unlimited storage. Right now it offers RSYNC, SFTP and HTTPS access to your files. You can backup using any compatible client of your choice.

Forget about Mozy. I contacted them again a year later and they have made zero progress. +1 for SpiderOak.
