Quicktime/mplayerplug-in Ubuntu gusty

i am having a hard time getting files to play in Firefox 3.0. been searching around the internet for a while, but surprisingly have not found a solution. i can't view mpg or wmv files. i tried setting up mplayerplug-in but haven't been successful. i am running amd64 hardy so am unsure if this was the right forum...

sudo apt-get remove totem-mozilla
sudo apt-get install mozilla-mplayer

thanks worked perfectly...when the video buffers it has a mplayerplug-in buffer screen.
