I haven't been able to use my modem since I got my laptop. I used the scanmodem package from linmodems.org, and discovered that my modem is an hsf modem. I downloaded the free version of the HSF Modem driver from linuxant, and it recognized the modem and I dialed in fine. As soon as I try to send information over the connection, it cuts off. Is it possible this is because for some reason my ISP doesn't support 14K connections? Is there an open-source or "free as in free beer" alternative to this driver that I could use? If not, does anyone know of another way to test the driver to make sure it will work right once I buy the license?
