G'Day,

I seem to be having a problem somewhere. Some programs related to video playback are just not running. To be more precise, they start and then crash. So I see the gui start up and then they disappear, no error message. Its only some, and they are all video playback of some form.

What works:
VLC
Mplayer
tvtime (though it's not detecting my TV tuner)

What doesn't:
gxine
MeTv (detected tuner and found stations but then crashed)
Miro
Movie Player
Mplayer
xine
Kaffeine (just added)

So is there a common thread in this list? Any suggestions?

I am running a GForce 6600 with the nvidia drivers on 8.04 fully updated. These all worked in 7.10 before I upgraded (except Kaffeine which is a new install).

Can anyone help?

Cheers
SittingDuck

I'm experiencing total system freezes while running Movie Player as well.
