I'm trying to find out if the following is possible (using either base X, or other drivers such as NVidia, ATI etc):
I want to configure my multi-monitor system to have a console on one monitor, and an X session on the other.
By "console" I mean the virtual terminal such as on CTRL-ALT-F1 etc. (a maximised xterm etc is not viable at the moment). As far as I can tell I can't do this on a single graphics card system. I have currently tried on my laptop as screen zero, and an external monitor as screen 1: it's console *or* X, not both (if I have TwinView/Xinerama etc running and switch to console then the external monitor loses the signal) which is sort of expected.
So, has anyone attempted to try this using either a single-card-with-dual-output, or 2 cards configuration?
Thanks.
