Cant play certain avi format vedios in Totenham movie player says cannot determine type of stream. What do i do? cuz i cant play it in vlc media player either. Help is greatly appreciated.

It's hard to say, unless you manage to find out what the actual sound and video formats are. (Avi is just a container, not a video format. It can include sound and video compressed to almost any format. Becase of this it's impossible to say what codec is needed without knowing the actual content.)

Anyway, have you isntalled all gstreamer0.10-plugins and the w32codecs-package? Those should contain all commonly used video and audio codecs..

If the .avi file doesnt play in VLC either, then it may be possible that the file itself is corrupt... Totem and VLC use different codecs to play movies and if it doesnt play on one, the other can handle it... Check another .avi movie to see if that plays ok...

i think that too, i had this problem before, and the answer was that the file was corrupt
