I have zero sound for video, audio, presentations, etc. and will only play that annoying loud beep when you hold down the backspace on the login screen.
I have checked and am not muted.
aplay -l returns

I have purged alsa as well with no result.
I have an acer extensa 5620 and sound works in vista so that rules out hardware failure.
Ideas?
