I tried installing Hardy from the Live DVD on my new Acer Aspire 6920 yesterday. The first time, I decided not to install Grub. After the installer finished, I tried to boot using the Super Grub Disc, and failed. Grub couldn't recognise the ext3 partition (this is not a permanent install, so I only had one partition).
I tried installing normally, and the installer couldn't install Grub to hd0. I tried again on hd0,0, but again it failed. I finally decided to leave it off again, and ran into the same errors, even with a brand new SGD.
The partition in question was previously the restore partition of this laptop.
Any ideas?
