What?

This IS Leopard! I just changed the icons and the wallpaper.

WHAT? So, those "places" things, with the disclosure triangles??? That's the Finder? Hm... Maybe it _is_ worth upgrading from Tiger... ;-)

No that is still hardy, I just felt like working on an ibex wallpaper in style of kuti heron. If anyone wants I will up the svg, since it needs work. :3

the gtk is Cafe Con Leche. Isnt the default Ibex just testing a darker theme? I didn't think that it was set.

Video of my eye candy settings:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iIuMJ_hWgvI&feature=user

Screenshots of my theme are in an attachment. In the bigger one, the two windows are just file browsers.

My theme is custom. Window borders are crux, icons are Tangerine, and controls are Crux. As for colors, window backgrounds are 230 red, 230 green, and 230 blue, input boxes are white, selected items are 252 red, 52 green, and 0 blue, tooltips are 255 red, 255 green and 0 blue. All text is black. The pointer is DMZ-White.

My desktop background was found in a google image search for "ubuntu flames." I'm not actually using the satanic edition.

you should try evilwm or dwm, if saving that much more memory is essential.

I am interested by dwm and awesome. I would test them when I would have sufficient time.

For the moment i'm happy with icewm on my old laptop ( athlon 1.4Ghz, 256 Mb ), cause it has built-in taskbar and systray.

The font is the last thing in the world I ever notice. It just seems to me to be so needlessly picky when people even mention it. TO ME, that is. I understand - no, make that "I know" that a lot of people are critical of every aspect of stuff, so it only goes to figure, but me, I just never even notice.

I started wth an ubuntu command-line system, added fluxbox and the applications I like. Find out HOW TO (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/LowMemorySystems). The documentation suggests it is for a low memory system. My install is on a new computer and it works great. (The image went a little shaky with the upload, it looks crystal at my end.. edit: worked it out, left click it three times and it finally goes clear)

I wasn't being anal. Sorry ifd it cam across that way, I just really despise the default font that comes with all ubuntu pacakges (that I've installed). It doesn't affect my actual programs (i.e. firefox) it just affects the menu buttons on firefox...it's similar to the font in the following pic (not mine taken from page 1):

http://ubuntuforums.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=75858&d=1214862780

I'm using Openbox (on its own) and Obconf, while altering most of the fonts, it still keeps that annoying menu font. I've changed it somehow on my laptop, but am yet to change it on here as I don't know the laptop settings and can't check because it's doing HDD tasks atm!!

I don't know, but since KDE4.1 expected release is the 29th, I would guess a day or 2 after that. I think Kdemod doesn't have official kde4 releases yet, since it's still in the unstable repo. It all depends on when Arch will maintain KDE4 officially

My EeePC's desktop. Ubuntu Hardy running Fluxbox, I can't remember the theme (could look for it though if someone is interested) customized with a nice wallpaper from Makoto Shinkai's Five Centimeters per Second (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/5_Centimeters_per_Second).

A little experiment I'm working on now.
Basically it's a configurable theme based on Clearlooks but with more highlights and a blending metacity. Still looking for default colors though.

The blue wallpaper is ofmeandyou.

I got Arch running in a VirtualBox with Windows XP. This is all on a 1.6Ghz system with 768 DDR RAM. I'm suprised on how stright forward everything is, every issue I had was due to something with VirtualBox like installing Guest Additions (I forgot to type mount /media/cdrom at some point and spent hours figuring it out). Then I had no sound, guess what VirtualBox sets sound off by default with the null setting, I spent at least 3 hours trying to break Arch figuring this out, it had nothing to do with arch. Anyways this was just a test run, I will be putting it on my system soon enough along with Ubuntu & Windows.

Also I can run perfect video playback with nearly no slowdowns in VirtualBox, I didn't think it was possible.

Running default, openbox & lxpanel with conky.

Well technically arch is never "stable" in the full sense of the word as it is a very bleeding edge distro. Just built a new comp and will have some screens, maybe a picture or two ;), when I get arch installed.

Where did you get that brown picture (of the building)? Do you know where that building is?

It's the Chateau de Mirinda:

During the French Revolution, the family of the Count of Liedekerke-Beaufort left the feudal castle Château de Vêves and lived at a nearby farm. After the Revolution, this opulent residence was built as a summer home for the family in 1866 by the English architect Milner, although he died before seeing its completion. The Château de Mirinda, as it was called then, was owned and used by the family except when it was briefly occupied by the Nazis in World War II. In 1958, it was used by the SNCB (a Belgian national rail company) as a home for the railwaymen's children and became Château de Noisy.

It was abandoned in 1991 and has been falling into ruins. The building has 550 windows and a clocktower that is 183 feet (56 meters) tall.

And Here's the wallpaper for ya:

=D> I bet so much thought has been given to this setup, eyy? :)

it might appear so to the novice.

@ Chuky: If someone actually ever thought being able to tell the mood of another basing on his desktop, he surely had concluded you were in a incredibly bad mood... :)
So, bad mood or VERY minimalistic?

how can you confuse peace and quiet with a bad mood?

I think it would be better without the clock

apparently, some of us don't care what time we appear for pressing engagments. ](*,)

Um, I hate to say it, but on the Mac, if the file is hilighted, you just need to hit <return> to edit the file name. No more difficult than F2. Oh, and one benefit of Mac OS is that hitting the up and down arrows while editing the file name takes you to the beginning and end of the name.

I do thank you for the F2 trick. It works in PCMan. :-)

Wow, that's my Murrina. Thanks for the positive feedback.
I'm happy with my own work because I made the theme adaptable enough to work with my wallpaper's color scheme.

My current desktop is best expressed through this otherwise unrelated video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BrK4c7iFJLs).
Intrepid Alpha 2, my FusionLive-tailored Murrina with "dark ITT colors" (yellow on a sort of orange-ish black). Emerald theme is a very dark derivative of Polish. Wallpaper was custom built from my employer's official logos. Dock is Cairo-Dock, with a custom color scheme using the same yellow as everything else (icons are the standard Tango ones, the dock layout itself has remained like that for quite a while now).
