According to the Bestbuy (electronics store) site, they've stopped carrying the Linux version of the EEEPC.

Wouldn't worry about it, te Acer Aspire One is a far better buy than an Eee700.

Chances are the Eee700 series will be discontinued soon.

No worries. It's selling extremely well and there's no way that Best Buy would completely discontinue the brand. (Unless Asus plans on finding some other way to distribute the remainder of the 5 million Eee PC's they plan on selling this year - see this link - http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/content/08_24/b4088032594249.htm?chan=search)
