PPPoE Trouble in ubuntu 8.04

Hello guys, I'm expiriencing a problem with my PPPoE connection.
I type in the terminal "sudo pppoeconf" I do what is said in every tutorial, but when its finish it does not connect. It fails to connect authorize and terminates the connection. Ill be happy to any ideas and help I can get here.

ensure that you have entered the correct userid and password.. also check your modem configuration.. it needs to be in bridged mode not ppoe mode
