HI
My games are doing something very wierd. After a while they change to window mode for no reason and i cannot interact with the game. All I can do is Ctrl+Alt+Backspace. I run all my games in 1280x1024 res and my desktop too. These games include: Quake 4, Quake 3, Doom 3, MOHAA, ETQW, UT2004, RTCW.
Any sugestions?

You just have to disable compiz (desktop effects), they are horribly unstable with games and cause the problems you are describing.
Go to system -> preferences -> appearance
Go to the tab "Visual Effects", and select none.
Everything should work fine after that
(To everyone who thinks he/she's having a deja vu, yes I copied and pasted the above advice from the thread I typed it in yesterday, was faster than typing it all over again :lolflag:)

Thanks alot... Is there a way that I can only disable compiz while the game is on... most of my games have scripts that i run them off.. What would I add to the script?

I just decided to disable it seen as this is for an internet cafe and we don't need customers getting confused when the cube suddenly spins or the window wobbles...

I had a similar question last night:

compiz switch lets you easily toggle the effects on and off, works very well.
