As the name suggests, I am new to Linux. I don't feel I'm ready for C or C++, ATM. Do not judge me, I have my way of doing things, as do you.
So what's your thoughts, huh? come on, answer! :D
Regards,
Paul.

Thoughts on what? You didn't ask a question.
If you want to program but don't want to head for C or C++, go for Python or Ruby. Python is my choice http://www.python.org

Yes, Python is a good choice for (K)Ubuntu.
If you go through some of the older posts in this forum you'll see that the question has been asked and answered several times.

There are some vb compilers for linux, btw, and Mono are working on a vb.net compiler for their alternative .NET Framework at the moment.
