Ubuntu error, small window.

Hi, I'm going to make a vague description of my problem since I have not been able to find any solution to it and I'm hoping you could help.
So, I have installed Ubuntu 8.04 and everything is working fine, exept that the screen is "not maximized" I'm not sure how to describe the problem other than that.
Ask for information and I will gladly give it to you if it helps you, help me:)
Ohh, I almost forgot I'm running on a Dell Latitude if it helps.

When you say "screen", do you mean the Destkop?
Are you running Ubuntu in a virtual machine?

Yes, I mean my desktop. And no, I am not running on a virtual desktop.
EDIT:
I just managed to make the problem worse. I changed the resolution to even smaller (don't ask me why) and now the "desktop" is too small to change it back.
I can't tabulate to access the settings either.
