June 29th, 2008, 04:42 PM
I've been wanting to create an internal network as from a workgroup at home. I have a laptop with hardy and a pc with xubuntu, also hardy, another pc with gutsy and windows (double boot). So I want to be able to print and share documents with the double booting computer when this one is on ubuntu, as i have done it while on windows via samba. I have absolutely no idea of how or where to start:confused::confused::confused:

for printing, just use cups. both windows and linux can use it, and it's a breeze to set up: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/NetworkPrintingWithUbuntu?#Ubuntu%20Print%20Server
for configuring a windows share host (server), see the first link in my sig.
for connecting to windows shares (client), see the second link in my sig.
if you only want to connect from ubuntu to xubuntu, use the fourth link in my sig.
