View Full Version : [ubuntu] where do i find system information

im running 8.04 and i cant find any location to see what i have for hardware like what kind of video card and how much memory it has etc.ive looked in admin tab and preferences tab but i dont see anythin relating to hardware,is there something im missing?
can some one please help?

Go to System > Preferences > Main Menu. When the window pops up, go to System Tools and check Device Manager...this will place it under Applications > System Tools. I find it is similar to the Windows version of device manager, but has WAY more info.

Install the package gnome-device-manager. Then select Applications->System Tools->Device Manager.

You can also
lshw to list installed hardware
lspci to list pci devices and
lsusb to list usb devices.
