Hi all,

What I want to achieve is to have a auto-hide panel with shortcuts or "launchers" to all the terminal servers I use at work. This part is easy enough. The trouble I'm having is I want the launchers to be text so I can call them the name of the terminal server instead of having the same icon for each launcher and having to do a mouse over to find the right one.

Hope someone can help...

Cheers

One solution I've used is to make a small graphic with text identifying the item. You store them somewhere and then select the appropriate customized icon in the Properties section of the launcher. I used a terminal icon and then just placed letters within.

Maybe not what you are looking for but it's an option.

BTW, the terminal icon I modified was /usr/share/pixmaps/gnome-terminal.png I just filled in the center with white and then added a letter or number.
