Hi
I'm still a newbie and would appreciate some advice.
I've been following the progress of KDE 4 via Live CDs. A Fedora 4.0.82 (basically Beta 2) was a huge improvement over the OpenSUSE Beta 1 I tried, and I would like to install KDE 4.1 beta 2 on my Ubuntu 8.04.
The instructions on the kubuntu.org page look very straightforward, but I would but like to confirm how this will work over an Ubuntu 8.04 install.
I installed a KDE 3.5.x last year and all the KDE apps appeared in the GNOME menus, and it was really ugly. I'd like to keep them separate, i.e. I would like a "pure" KDE 4.1 and a "pure" GNOME environment, decided on login.
KDE 4.1 is just a shiny toy for me and I don't want to mess up my new clean install of GNOME/Ubuntu 8.04, which hasn't given me a moment's trouble. Can anyone please advise who has tried this what actually happens?
Thanks very much
John
