Hello

I have one experimental Ubuntu-box, where I had Ubuntu 7.10 running, and I had the full disk encryption i.e. everything encrypted except /root partition.

When I made the previous distribution update (from 7.04 to 7.10), there were no problems - I just let the system update itself. But now when I updated from 7.10 to 8.04, after system is booted, it can't anymore open encrypted disks, and it does not even prompt for password. The display scrolls so fast that I can't say what error messages it gives.

So, the main question: should distribution update understand for fully encrypted disks?
And the side question: is there any rescue disk for 8.04, which would understand for fully encrypted disk?

If not, there is not much loss - as said, this was an experimental box with no important data.

Thanks,

- Kalle
