KVM: how to connect from the host using a virtual serial console?

Hello, I am trying to get a serial connection working to be able to connect from the host to a VM with, let's say, a broken SSHd.
I couldn't find any tutorial on this; any help would be appreciated...

I would suggest you use the Virtual Machine Manager.
