I wanted to give thanks to a pre-upgrade post and there was no way to do it. Any way to get thanks going on all forum posts?

No, the feature doesn't exist on posts that were made before the feature was implemented.

You can always just make a post and thank the user or send a PM to say thanks. Any thanks given is always welcome I believe. :)

The "Thanked x Times in y Posts" is a nice ego boost though :)

So if I move all your thanked posts to the OPP (where thanks don't count), you would get an ego deflation?

It is worth a try...

Does the ability to thank a post expire after 3 months?

I wouldn't have thought so, but the "one click" option is a nice touch.

Indeed :) not only that but I went to school when measurement were still in Imperial and we had to learn all sorts of daftness.

I guess I have Anglo-Saxon in me - the last person I argued with certainly thought so :D

The last person? It didn't happen to be yourself?

I never did get to have the real big infraction laden argument with myself did I - just goes to show how much I'm like the laid back php avatar I sometime use :)

Some words were beaten into me with a big stick - you can tell which ones, I flinch when I type them and then blank them from my mind , I then don't see them until they are already posted.

All very vicious - 1st year head of secondary (11 year old) was the woodwork head as well - didn't use a cane, had a well worn piece of 3" x 2" he used. :(

You sure? I've noticed the "Thanks" icon disappears on posts that are a couple or more months old. I presume it expires after a set period.

I mean on old threads that weren't thanked. Some of the tutorials and howtos that are old are still "thankable". Maybe it expires after a while of not being thanked.

I am just speculating.

Ah okay, I get you.

I've seen posts that have been thanked, but there was no longer a "Thanks" icon present, including my original how-to (I was sent a private message saying the icon had gone), so I presumed the icon expires, especially as I'd seen it disappear on other thanked posts. I only asked here as I've not seen it documented that it expires.

Interesting. Your guess is as good as mine though :-)

Maybe it does expire.

I can confirm the "Thanks" icon disappears from a post after 60 days, not 90.

Have I bored you all yet? ;-)

That is good to know. But now you have to test it.

Watch a thread for 60 days and record the moment is disappears.

It's deffinately 60 days, I've tested it with your thanked posts. One thanked post you made on May 1st can still be thanked, but a thanked post you made on Apr 29th can't be thanked anymore.

Ditto - now there's a new set of daftness, like a mysterious unit of weight called a "cagey" and a measurement of speed called a "kay" which also doubles as a measurement of distance and also of capacity.:)

Bring back the old days of 12d=1s, 20s=1 pound!!!! (That system disappeared from NZ something like 41 years ago)

I figured aysiu has been thanked a lot, so here is proof it has a 60 days expiration:

http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=4845153&postcount=19

http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=4834967&postcount=16

Is it built into the plugin? Maybe the thanks plugin is shareware...;-)
