I have an antique HP x86 machine with 196 Megs of ram. It should run Xubuntu fine, but I cannot get it installed. I allowed the install to run for over 24 hours and it never finished.

I want to use the old fashioned install program (without graphics) like I would get with the server install. In the past it was available with "Expert Mode" in the menu, but I cannot find "Expert Mode" in the install menu.

Can I and if so How do I get an expert mode install for XUbuntu Desktop?

Thanx

Bodger

I'm not familiar with Xubuntu install disks. If there is an alternate install iso, download it, burn it to disk, and you will be using the familiar text based installer.

What you need is actually the AlternateCD. It doesn't run a Live CD session to install, it's a text-based installer.
