Soon after first taking delivery of this iMac, I configured all of the fonts I could in the Leopard system to their maximum size of 16 points, which is just acceptable to my eyes on this large screen 1920 x 1200 pixel res'.

I would like to make that size larger, though more importantly there are some fonts that just remain too small & I really need to enlarge them.

There must be a config' file in the system somewhere that will give me the ability to manually size these fonts???

Some of the fonts I am talking about are the Finder menu (which is the desktop title bar) all of the system Preferences have microscopic fonts, as does much of the text if you go to the Apple menu / About this Mac / More info...

Surely there is a solution to this problem, hopefully someone here knows & can pass it on to me.

I must say, that I find it so much more pleasurable to use & view Arch on the iMac, due to my having been required to configure everything in that system during setup, it therefore looks just how I want it, which has the side effect of making my eyes so much more relaxed.

So... What?

There is NO way to solve this problem on Leopard?

I know that Apple has hard wired somethings into their system, but THIS ONE IS NUTS!

This, is how to ****-off customers after they have spent the money & bought the BIG 24" screen to then find that certain system dialogues are almost unreadable due to tiny fonts that resist in every shape & form, sizing.

There MUST be a solution to this dumb RRRs problem.

I think you need Tinker Tool (http://mac.softpedia.com/get/Utilities/TinkerTool.shtml). I've got a slightly dated version of it, and it certainly has a tab for adjusting fonts. Right up to 288 point, which should be big enough.

I haven't tried to adjust any fonts, because the version I've got I installed under Tiger and this is the first time I've opened it in Leopard and it's telling me to upgrade. But all the reports I've heard of Tinker Tool are good.

I really don't know whether you can do this without a third-party app, but tell me - how did you adjust your desktop fonts in Leopard? I've looked all over System Preferences and can't find where you do it.

Edit: I've just found the official TT website. Here it is:

The Softpedia one was the best that came up in a quick Google.

Thanks m8, I was hoping that if I kept bumping my post someone would eventually reply. :KS 8)

I will check it out & post my results back here.

Unfortunately Tinker Tool only adjusts the same fonts that I can already adjust.

I'm starting to think that some of these settings may be hardwired into the OS. I do still hope not though.
