[SOLVED] Hardy ubuntu-minimal on Powerbook: No sound

Hi

I installed ubuntu-minimal on a powerbook G4 1.6 and can't get sound. I tried, among other things:

sudo /sbin/alsa reload

which didn-t help, and opened all channels in alsamixer.

I've got the same problem. I tried modprobe snd-powermac but still no sound. Also, shutdown is broken.

I believe that ubuntu thinks that there was no sound card:

ubuntu:~$ sudo lspci | grep audio
finishes with no output. Also, lshw doesn' list any sound device:

When starting up ubuntu, I get a message that there's an error at PCI address 0001:10:19:1, is that the sound card?

I wasn't aware that ALSA ist not installed with a minimal install and fluxbox, so sudo aptitude install alsa solved the problem for me.

After a minimal install, to get sound working, in terminal I typed:

sudo apt-get install alsa-base gnome-media gnome-audio gnome-volume-manager gnome-system-tools
