Hi all, I have been looking thru numerous threads on how to boot an install cd, usb drive, from a floppy. My bios does not support usb booting. I have tried netboot and it worked but I still have a question. Is there a way to put the first part of the installer that leads up to hardware detection on a floppy and make it bootable. This way you would boot to a floppy select install, the installer would start running then detect the cd drive and finish installing from the detected cd drive. Any ideas. Thanks

Had you tried reading this Ubuntu Community Page (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/WithFloppies) (Installation/WithFloppies).

I have found what I have been looking for. Here is a link to a floppy that will boot a Linux install cd. It worked great with Ubuntu and will work with others. Worked great for me.
