Hello people,
I gotta rather painful problem. I'm normally a windows user and was gonna check out linux for a bit, but curiosity killed the cat it seems. I have an Acer laptop (Extenza 5220) that I'm fixing for my mother, so she's able to stay in touch with her kids online. Now the factory installed Windows Vista Home Basic on this 512 RAM laptop, which of course will never make it run good, so I tried all I could to get XP installed on it but so far no luck. Kubuntu has been the only thing so far that managed to get rid of Vista (Thank God 4 that) but now when I'm trying to install XP, the damn thing won't install it 'cause the entire harddisc is not being recognized and it says there's only a partition (suddenly named in Italian for some reason) of 55mb, which ain't enough for windows to get installed on. Kubuntu runs on it though so there must be a harddisc and it worked with Vista before as well.....but why can't the (official) XP installation disc recognize the harddisc anymore? Is this something that can be fixed and has it got anything to do with the Kubuntu installation? I am really getting desperate 'cause I also use this one as my own laptop now since my own is @ the reperation service....help plz !
