I've had Kubuntu Hardy installed on my new laptop for about a month now and it was working just fine for quite some time. Within the past few days I've been seeing this very strange behavior. If I walk off from my computer for a while and come back the screen is still on but my mouse and keyboard no longer respond. The weirdest part is that the CAPS LOCK light blinks whenever this happens. It *only* happens when the computer is left idle, I can use it for hours in an active manner and have no problems so I'm pretty sure it's not a hardware/heat issue.

I've found some information here (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=525103) and here (https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/5529). The evidence seems to point to a "kernel panic". How do I fix this? Why does it only occur while the computer is idle? Or is it another problem?
