Surround Sound - Advice

I need a bit of advice. I want a surround sound capable card (for my laptop) and I need one that works in Ubuntu.

I'm having a bit of trouble finding out which ones work. Any advice?

I'm using a creative 24 bit live usb card. It took a whole bunch of trying before I got it to work. I've heard that cards from terratec are supported. You could also probably try looking at the alsa homepage
