HP psc 1210 all-in-one install help needed

Hi, I have been trying to install my printer/scanner hardware. It is HP psc 1210 and I have the install CD. Im using ubuntu 8.04 and the install problem Im faced with is the requirements not met.
Out of all the requirements, only usb is listed as what I need and dont have, although this is not true. The pc recognizes mp3,handphones through the usb ports. I have installed this before on this exact pc, just using XP at the time.

What can I do to solve this ? Any help is appreciated, thnx~

1) Have you just tried to print?

2) To scan > Applications > Graphics > Xsane Image Scanner

I have a PSC 1600, and it just works out of the box.

I can print now but I havent been able to scan. If I click the scan button on my psc nothing appears on my pc. Is the only way to scan by going to > Applications > Graphics > Xsane Image Scanner ?
