Hello,

Today I was messing around with features of compiz thru my advance desktop settings. In general giving reflections, 3d windows, all the nifty stuff. I was playing with the rain effect (don't know if this is relevent...its just what i was doing last) and my machine didn't like that the screen went totally black. I managed to shut it down and reboot.

Now when i open up any window they are fixed in place, no more wobbliness and no minimize/maximize/close buttons. I can only control the open windows via the panel at the bottom of screen.

"wobbly" windows is enabled. And I have no clue why I have no buttons.

Edit: Ok also when I go into appearance and choose none under effect my windows min/max/close buttons reappear. But no compiz effect. If I choose extras then back to the problem I am posting about.....just extra info, I am sitting here trying to figure it out til some one else throws out some ideas....

Any one know what I did and more importantly how I undooz it?

Thanks everyone taking the time to read this!

Dang I LOVE when I figure this system out!!! Ubuntu rocks!!

--> I turned off "windows decoration" duh!

***************************

Okay here is some side bar for anyone readying this post:

I am one of those guys who came over here from windows and admittedly HATED linux for not doing what "I" expected it to do.

This weekend I re-installed and got rid of all the windows crap I was trying to make work and started fresh.

I have COMPLETELY customized my system visually from the boot up screen forward and the advanced visuals in linux make vista look like exactly what it is....crap.

I now "get" linux, and though I have a long way to go in understanding and more importantly...utilizing it fully... I am well on my way!

"I am one of you"!

I work in Secondlife and with Vista was getting 3 to 6 FPS. In Linux using Ubuntu I am getting 20-25 FPS....

"Thank you" Linux community!
