What would you consider a funny video game?

Wormux, but you can only play it with two players :(

Otherwise, savage 1 and nexuiz, Killing people is fun too! :D :)

(definitely if it involves a magical fireball or a lightning strike, or a bone sword, like in savage 1 :guitar::lolflag:)

Well, you didn't mention it had to be Free, does computer game fall under the video game category too?

If so, I would recommend Leisure Suit Larry (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leisure_Suit_Larry) (except for # 8, Al Lowe didn't do that one, and it's not a true adventure game either), Space Quest (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Search?search=Space%20Quest) (Particularly IV and V) and Monkey Island (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Secret_of_Monkey_Island) (the first will always be my favorite)

Some of the games are once again for sale (being repackaged with DOSBox (http://www.dosbox.com/)). Some can also be run under ScummVM (http://www.scummvm.org/). Both Free software and in the repos. Wish I could say the same about the games, but I suggest looking into it. Wine can run some of them too I believe, but fortunately the games came from a time where it was common to provide Win and DOS versions (thankfully!)

P.S. Leisure Suit Larry has some sexual innuendo, and is mostly from a "guy's perspective". It's worth mentioning that in Larry 3 you play from Larry's perspective and at another time Patti's. That was something very unique around the games release. So give the whole series a chance if you aren't offended by mature humor. I recommend it to any sex.

Disclaimer: I usually am pretty reserved. These games on more than one occasion have caused me to burst out in laughter. So IMHO they are funny! :lolflag:

P.P.S My current avatar is from Larry 7. :D It is an especially great adventure game :)

Well, if you don't mind doing some hunting on the secondary market? ScummVM offers a lot of other hilarious games too. Sam & Max Hit the Road and Day of the Tentacle in particular. ...Definitely DotT. Its take on colonial-era America is great!

Both are puzzle games, and of the old Lucasarts "don't kill the player" mentality, so they're not frustrating to play.

The brand new penny arcade might suit you. Granted, I only played the demo so far and wasn't terribly impressed with the actual gameplay itself... it did make me laugh :D

Besides just being an overall awesome experience and adventure game, Grim Fandango (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grim_Fandango), is also has its fair share of rolling on the floor laughing moments.

I would also trow Full Throttle (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Full_Throttle_%281995_video_game%29) in the same bin. These are both games that I have gone back to, and played solely on the merit of their incredible entertainment value.

Ri-li (http://ri-li.sourceforge.net/)

Hours of fun trying to prevent a train crash, while the train goes faster and faster, and gets longer and longer. Hilarious! And very well crafted with excellent music.

someone mentioned Sam & Max Hit the Road. well, Sam & Max have now reappeared in a series of episodic adventure games, and they're as funny as ever. there are 11 episodes for now, but more are coming. they are shorter than Sam & Max Hit the Road, but just as absurd and wicked. get the free game here: http://www.telltalegames.com/samandmax/lincolnmustdie and fight the giant, robotic Abraham Lincoln and see Max become president of the USA and wreak nuclear havoc on the world. kinda.

Well, a quick look at the site suggests it's a Windows-only game, and also the game's not free - only the demo. :(

try a slow look next time. ;) this episode is free, so it says on the page: "Download a full episode for free!". and so it is. yes, it's a Windows game, but it works pretty well under Wine.

There is a Linux version of Postal2, if you have a sick sense of humor like me. I also found "command&conquer 2 yuri's revenge" pretty funny, in a campy sort of way, definitely the best opening cinematic I have seen in any game. I was disappointed to see EA didn't follow with the campiness in subsequent releases in the series. I guess it went over their heads after closing westwood studios.

EDIT

I just remembered a text based Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy game that ran on DOS back in the mid eighties, that was pretty funny too.

On the Source engine? Does this mean Source is getting ported to Linux and Mac?

That doesn't answer the question, really. It's just the speculation and rumors I've already read about a few times via Digg. They still haven't announced anything about it, though. The way companies have to be so mysterious perplexes me. If they've already decided on porting Source (and with that, probably Steam so they can make you connect to the Internet to register your single-player games) to Linux they might as well say it.

LGP is also going to do that with all it's future titles, starting with sacred gold, so it's not just steam. I don't give a **** tough, and I am still going to buy sacred because it'll be a fun game, copy protection isn't going to influence the decision to buy it

Here is the phoronix article on LGP new copy protection system, came out yesterday:
