I have been trying to get wireless to work.
At one point I lost my wired connection.
Rebooting in Recovery mode restored it.
Hope this works for you.

gksudo gedit /etc/network/interfaces

Add & save text in blue below into file /etc/network/interfaces

auto eth0
iface eth0 inet dhcp

Run these commands at the terminal

sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart
ifconfig

If all is well, you should see an IP address in eth0.

Note : You can only have 1 active network connection at any time. So, it's either the wired (eth0) or the wireless (wlan0).

When you want to try connecting to wireless, disable or comment out those text in blue in /etc/network/interfaces

Please do, in a terminal:
sudo modprobe forcedeth
sudo lshw -C networkIs your card still unclaimed? Now do:
ifconfigDoes your interface eth0 reappear?

If this fixes it, we will have to take some steps to make this, hopefully, permanent.

i type already, but it show me this....

sudo: unable to resolve host Ubuntu

why the Ubuntu failed to bring up eth0?

even in the ifconfig there the eth0 still not appear

yes, it works, you sure this can work permanently?

it works now, but everytime i restart it not working again and i need to type the command over again.

it show this error after i typed sudo modeprobe forcedeth

Let's see:
cat /etc/modprobe.d/blacklistI wonder if the failure of forcedeth to load is related. Let's fix problem #1 before we move forward. This:
sudo: unable to resolve host Ubuntubothers me, too. May I please see:
cat /etc/hosts
you sure this can work permanently?Yes, indeed. Thanks.

this is what it appear after i typed the cat /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist

June 25th, 2008, 03:20 AM
Please sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist and remove these lines:
sudo apt-get install ndiswrapper-utils-1.9

mkdir ~/bcm43xxProofread carefully, save and close. Use any text editor you have, such as kate, kwrite, nano or vim, if you do not have gedit.

sudo gedit /etc/hosts to make it look like this (a bit of guesswork here):
127.0.0.1 localhost
127.0.1.1 Ubuntu

# The following lines are desirable for IPv6 capable hosts
::1 ip6-localhost ip6-loopback
fe00::0 ip6-localnet
ff00::0 ip6-mcastprefix
ff02::1 ip6-allnodes
ff02::2 ip6-allrouters
ff02::3 ip6-allhostsProofread carefully, save and close. Then do:
sudo modprobe forcedeth
sudo /etc/init.d/networking restartNote any errors and tell us if your wired connection comes up.

i'm sorry, but it doesn't work, the eth0 wired connection do come up, but after i restart then it not working again, i need the command all over again to get it working, is there a solution that i can get it automatically working when the cable is pluggled in?

chili555
June 25th, 2008, 06:50 PM
Please sudo gedit /etc/modules and add a single word on its own line:
forcedethProofread, save and close. Use any other text editor if you don't have gedit; kwrite, kate, nano or vim will work as well.

Reboot. If your /etc/network/interfaces file contains this:
auto eth0
iface eth0 inet dhcpthen you should be connected at boot.
