Hi

I have just managed to get wireless working on my laptop which has a BCM4312 wireless card installed. It works fine but for some reason my home wireless network is not displayed in the list of available wireless networks. To connect I have to choose 'Connect to other wireless network' and fill in the network details every time.

The connection is WEP-secured and using open authentication. How can I force Ubuntu to automatically login to my home wireless when it is available and why is it not listed as available on login?

Many thanks

Choose 'Connect to Other Wireless Network' and type in the SSID.

Just a thought, but are you sure your router's "broadcast ESSID" is set to on/enable? If not you obviously won't see it listed in available networks on your computer, but will still be able to connect if you manually connect w/ the ESSID. Are you able to see other networks in the area?
