View Full Version : [ubuntu] Can't mount USB Hard Drive

Hi. I can't mount my USB hard disk in Ubuntu 8.04. I pulled it out in Windows yesterday without safely removing it because it was causing the computer to freeze (non-Admin). Now it says to mount with a force command or safely eject it back in Windows. I tried the force mount command and it gave me a

and nothing more. I don't have access to a Windows account with administrator priveledges, so I can't safely remove it from there. What do I do?

You have to connect it to a Windows computer and then eject it safely after which you should be able to mount it in Ubuntu.

ntfs-3g will allow you to force it.

You don't need an admin account to that by the way.
