can ont launch games!

I installed several games like tux extreme racer and Uplink.

but i can't make them run. When I press the icon, the screen gets black, and my monitor comes with this massage: Mode not supported.

there were other games that did the same think, but I don't remember the titles.
I think the problem is resolution ( just a though ).

My resolution is : 1280 * 1024

What video card is in your computer, and what version of ubuntu are you using?
You probably need to enable/setup your card for 3D graphics.

I'm using ubuntu hardy. I think 3d is enabled becouse I can play Alien Arena

My video card is nvidia 7600 gs

Is there any way I can configure the game resolution without launching the game?
