View Full Version : [ubuntu] Cannot open share on linux samba server

June 20th, 2008, 05:39 PM
Our lab has a linux samba server running fedora. I've got hardy heron on my laptop, with samba installed. I can get to the server and see all the shares by typing the smb://servername into nautilus, but when I try to logon, I get the following error:

Couldn't display "smb://servername/share".
Error: Failed to mount Windows share
Please select another viewer and try again.

When I try to connect, it first asks for a username, a domain, and a password. When I map the network drive from windows, I just need to specify a username and password. I'm not sure what to do with the domain. I'd appreciate any advice.
