Networked printer not printing

Hi

I am unable to print to an XP shared network printer from Ubuntu. I can print ok from remote XP machine but not Linux (Hardy). Printer is Samsung ML-1210

I can browse and see the printer but when trying to authenticate and verify I get the message that it can't be associated. I try to print a test page but always sits there not doing a lot.

Very frustrating as I am using my XP login/password to authenticate with. Also had CUPs server keep crashing but reinstalled from Synaptic.

Please help.

Can you plug the printer in directly to the Hardy computer and print with it? First verify the driver is installed and prints fine, then move it back to the windows computer.

I have not seen the "can't be associated" error message, so can you try the above, try it again, and let me know the exact error message you get?
