Hi, I am in tanzania now and one of the few ways to get connected here is using the mobile phone network. It is not fast. I managed to set it up in windows, but, needless to say, it is of not much use, since I mainly use kubuntu since I installed it some time ago.

I am on hardy now and want to connect to the internet using the modem of my mobile phone over an infrared connection. My laptop is a dell D620 (and I tuned the infrared on in the bios, it works in windows). The problem seems to get th infra red working. I have tried
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/IrdaHowto
but at some point, I get an error:

Fatal error inserting nsc-ircc ... no such device.

I use kernel 2-16-24.16
What should I do???
