Unfortunately, no. This forum requires more features because of its large size and can't accomodate such things. In fact, this version of the software doesn't even support 800x600.

I have found this quite annoying as well. Even if I am using WiFi on my PDA, I can't get it to login, so it is pointless to browse here.

Even when I'm using a "real computer," I find the forums a bit graphics-heavy, and I don't want to install Adblock just to block all the graphics here.
It'd be great to have a text-only version. I realize that may not be technologically feasible.

Severely limited in features... but check out http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php
You can't post, and threads are in the wrong order, you have to go to the end of the subforum (numbers at the top)

I read the forums on my blackberry, using an RSS reader.

Well, that is good enough to find some info if needed at least. but it would be nice to have a functional forum.
I use SMF on another forum that I help administer, and we just installed a "mobile" theme. It supports indicating new posts and everything. I wouldn't think it would be too difficult to do...
Hmm... maybe something like this:http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=108640
