View Full Version : [ubuntu] 8.04 Fails Booting After Splash Screen

I just switched over from windows and I've been pleasantly surprised by how stable and accommodating 8.04 is. I've spent the last few days reading through guides on how to change my desktop appearance and install vmware. I have an xp guest setup and everything seems to be working- my problem now is that I can't start the computer. I can go into recovery mode from the grub boot loader, and that gets me on my account, but if I just let it normally boot up it fails everytime. I changed the splash screen, so I'm wondering if that may have something to do with it. After the splash screen finishes, the colors gets all screwy and the screen flickers a few times, then the system just hangs. I'm hoping this is fixable- since I can still logon through the recovery mode, everything is obviously intact. Is there a way to reset the booting somehow?
