This may seem like a strange question, I am thinking about getting a Asus Eee PC and running Ubuntu on it, my only worry is running out off space for programs and am wondering if there is a way to use the package manager or another means to install programs that I don't use commonly onto an external hard drive that may not always bee connect?
I haven't been able to find anything in the man pages for apt-get.
Thank you

Which EEEPC are we talking about. there is like 20 models in the lineup now
What I would suggest is looking into eeeXubuntu its build to run specifically on the original eeepc's for lower hard drive space. Also I suggest that you create seperate /home and /usr partitions, that can be stored on a SD card which go past 16GB these days(all EEEPC have the slot and 16GB is more than enough space and cost about $45).
I don't kknow how many apps you really will run or even can run on such a small laptop. My personal install of Ubuntu on my regular IBM laptop takes up less than 15GB which has more apps than I use.

I was looking at the 700 but the 901 has now been released with a larger storage, so its not as much of a problem but it would be nice to know if it is possible?
