Adding photo to Forum

I have tried a few times to up load my photo in the User CP but I alway get a failure message. When I right click on the photo in the User CP area, here is what I see.

I am doing soemthing wrong but I cannot figure it out. Thanks.

This may work.
try renaming the picture as a .jpg instead of a .gif and re-uploading it.

yeah rename it to jpg since thats what it is. its not a gif

I did not say it before but I am trying to up load a jpg. Here is a screen shot.
Ubuntu is telling me it is a GIF.

Thanks guys but I suspect you are guessing. There is no option to change the gif to jpg and I am trying to up load a jpg from my PC.
I will eventually figure it out myself.

Try using a image viewer like "gimp" and save as whatever extension you need like gif,jpeg etc. Than try resending to the forum.

Your photo (guy and a dog) appears fine in your user profile.If you want that photo to appear next to your forum posts you need to add it as an avatar,go to your user cp and select edit avatar and add the photo .

Ok, I give up on the profile picture upload since Ubuntu has not made the process intuitively obvious. I have been searching the archives and the threads appear to die with no exact process or tutorial. I suspect this process was developed for the Linux techie since a few have a photo of some kind. No big deal.

If you a picture to appear below your name on this page (or anywhere you post) it's called an avatar to add an avatar go to user cp and under settings and options choose edit avatar.You can then upload the photo you want to use.
