Can't boot to Ubuntu after installation

Hello .
I'm new to Ubuntu , i've just finished installing ubuntu 8.04 after reading https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MacBook_Santa_Rosa manual guide .
problem is ubuntu won't boot , i partition with bootcamp and installed rEFIt , as i get to the boot menu and select Linux that BTW is in light colors i get a black screen and it says the it can't boot .

I'm Using MacBook 4th Gen .
