key shortcut to get back to kde

Since quake4 craches from time to time at me, i am looking for another way to get back to kde then the reboot button. Is there some keystroke beside crt-alt-bksp?

You could create a keyboard shortcut for the command xkill

AFAIK xkill already works standard in KDE with crtl+alt+escape. Propably also in gnome. But i think i am looking for something similar as ( i hate to say though) when you press the windows button in a game, popping you back to your DE.
