I would like to use cron to start XSane and take an image from my scanner at night for a fast growing fungi study for summer school. I am a Tudor for kids at my school for kids who fail a GPA of 2.5 and don't want to have to call parents for persimmon to keep children for night scanning. I am a good Linux user and know how to edit the times in cron and a good starting time will be 6:30am.
